Package: libopensc2
Version: 0.11.13-1
Severity: minor
I use opensc-pkcs11.so with both pam-p11 and ssh (used with both
ssh-agent -s and ssh -I)
Whenever i use it (logging in, unlocking the screensaver, sudo, ssh,
ssh-add, etc), i get the following four messages on stderr (or in
xscreensaver's on-screen error log):
[opensc-pkcs11] reader-pcsc.c:906:pcsc_detect_readers: SCardEstablishContext
failed: 0x8010001d
[opensc-pkcs11] reader-pcsc.c:1015:pcsc_detect_readers: returning with: No
readers found
[opensc-pkcs11] reader-pcsc.c:906:pcsc_detect_readers: SCardEstablishContext
failed: 0x8010001d
[opensc-pkcs11] reader-pcsc.c:1015:pcsc_detect_readers: returning with: No
readers found
These are not actually errors; my cryptoflex eGate 32K USB token is
properly detected and can be used fine. But they show up in red and
look pretty scary. I also imagine that for people who are having real
trouble accessing their devices, these messages might be extra noise.
I can get the messgaes to go away by adding:
reader_drivers = openct, ctapi;
inside the "app default" section of /etc/opensc/opensc.conf
But that change seems unreasonable: for example, i might have a pcsc
card that i use sometimes, and i shouldn't have to swap out system
configs to get that to work.
Couldn't opensc-pkcs11 be quieter about a pcsc failure if no pcsc
cards were actually found? Or maybe it could supress those messages
if some other card was found to interact with, but display them if no
card is actually available under any of the reader_drivers.
Thanks for opensc, i really appreciate the tools and how well they
work in debian.
