When file is not executable, the correct mailcap handler is invoked. The filesystem mount options allow files to be executed, i. e. the file can be executed from the subshell. The problem is neither user-related (reproducible as a root as well as a regular user) nor environment-related (reproducible in the default environment). Earlier versions (2:4.6.2~git20080311-4, 3:4.7.0.1-1) exhibit the same behaviour.
