Hello! As you may have seen, I have marked this bug as pending upload. Indeed, I have adapted the problematic transition code to handle all the manageable weird cases I could identify, and warn the user in the event of an unmanageable one that would require a manual action.
This updated version is waiting for review and sponsoring, so it is not yet in the Debian archive.
