I am having the same problem as reported by the original poster. I am
using ALSA, not JACK. My mic input works fine in other applications,
and when I run fmit, the little meter at the upper right registers
input from the mic (it's labeled "Note Stability" but seems to act as
a level meter). But nothing else in fmit changes at all in respose to
the sound.
