I’ll keep your bugreport open and marked as wont-fix for future
reference.

I think you can override the defaults by placing a .desktop file
somewhere in ~/.config – I’m not aware of the defaults ATM. If you
figure out how to do that, and provide me with a suitable .desktop, I
can add it to /usr/share/doc/unicode-screensaver/examples and add a note
to README.Debian where to install that.
