Hello, using 'display' to show an index of images in a directory shows the images, but instead of the path names, it shows format strings. So, one doesn't know which image is shown in a certain tile. Just verified with imagemagick 7:6.3.7.9.dfsg2-1~lenny3 on a Lenny 5.0.4 box (amd64).
