Are you sure the version from Debian stable, 0.0.20080505-4 is affected?
When I look into inc/init.php, I cannot find the problematic code at
all.

I think this is rather a concern for the versions that were previously
in testing, and that were updated, so it should not affect Debian
anymore. Can you confirm?
