I didn't see this transition announced to debian-announce (hint), so I didn't know that it's even in preparations. Reading debian-release archives gave me some hints. I'll probably fix that after the transition is done, or with new upstream release. Those lines in debian/rules are just ugly hack to workaround upstream deficiency.
