Hi, Faheem.

Just to be clear, we're talking about the url that
http://tinyurl.com/yz8ypxx points to, namely
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&eurl=http%3A//www.youtube.com/user/MikeyCoooL%23p/a/73B7A33BE199C96B/0/pfrjcVD_YjI&v=pfrjcVD_YjI
Not http://tinyurl.com/yz8ypxx itself, right?

I thought that you were talking about the tinyurl address.

If so, not sure why youtube-dl should not follow it, but please go ahead and
tag wontfix if you wish.

No, I won't gratuitously tag anything wontfix on my packages. :-)
That's why I tagged it moreinfo. :-) Anyway, you seem to be using a
very, very old version of youtube-dl, that has many problems.

Thanks for not just closing it. I know maintainers who refuse to leave bugs open if they are not going to fix it.

Can you confirm that the problem doesn't exist anymore with the
version from unstable? I can't reproduce it here with the newer
version.

Ok, upgraded to current version in unstable.

fah...@orwell[default branch:rev 15]:~$ dpkg -l youtube-dl
[...]
ii youtube-dl 2010.02.13-1 download videos
from youtube

Still getting an error, but a different error...

youtube-dl -b

BTW, it seems that youtube-dl will never be part of a stable release
due to concerns of the Release Managers and you should probably get
the package from unstable (I try to be conservative with the versions
that I upload).

Ok, thanks. For the record, this is the first problem I've encountered with youtube-dl, but I don't download much stuff from youtube. Mostly dance clips. Though I've no idea why youtube can't provide a download facility.

                                                       Regards, Faheem.
