Not really needed. There is already an entry in freedesktop.org.xml .
I've asked for an update for additional file name pattern and contents

But anyhow we can ship a hdfview customized version and set the icon
(not the generic one) to hdf.gif .
(By the way, there is an r missing in hierarchy in hdfveiw.sharedmimeinfo .)
