If I understand it correctly, their problem was in running acpi services. I played with it (although the configuration is different from Debian) and ended in manual start -- no automatic X. I normally boot (e.g. including acpi, acpid is running), then manually "modprobe fglrx", then "startx". Interestingly, it starts, but without back light -- I can see processes in "ps aux", but the terminal 7 is black. Text terminals (1-6) are working normally. I tried also the normal boot -- flgrx in /etc/modules and gdm started from /etc/init.d/S99gdm. It works well -- blindly. If I enter my credentials, it starts my session, but the screen remains black. It seems, that the main problem is the back light. Petr -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
