It's not a hard error, because invalid files are simply skipped. The
invalid file should be fixed in app-install-data 2010.01.31, could you
please try to rerun update-software-center? This would normally be a
duplicate of #568833, but I'm keeping #568833 as the bug in
app-install-data, and this one as a request to display a warning instead
of an error with backtrace. But as this is purely cosmetic, I'm
downgrading the severity to minor.
It's fixed in bzr:
bzr+ssh://bazaar.launchpad.net/~juliank/software-center/debian/
