Hi, This seems to be a duplicate of the bug reported in ubuntu a year ago. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openbox/+bug/272418 Removing "--choose-session=openbox-session" from /usr/bin/openbox-gnome-session as suggested does indeed start openbox, but metacity is still running. So I have two window managers, which severly confuses X. <rant> The default gnome window managers according to Debian dependencies are metacity and mutter. The former is not maintained, the latter hangs immediately.
