 But there is, /usr/share/menu/irssi, and it gets added to the (Debian)
menu in Applications -> Network -> Communication. irssi doesn't has a
freedesktop application file, maybe the regular menu system that mostly
everything within Debian (still?) uses isn't enough for Ubuntu?

 I was told that installing menu-xdg will make the Debian menu subtree
available, would that be sufficient for that user? Actually I'm not
really convinced what to do here and I have no idea in what direction
the discussions are currently waging, especially since they are still
not finished from what I understand.
