OK, I'll be running find in that directory anyway, to find the core
files; no doubt it has a combination of options I can use to find
broken symlinks, too ...

Then again, thinking about it, it's possible that the "corruption" was
an illusion caused by the same bug as caused the crash - I don't think
I've seen that message since fixing the bug.
Still, doesn't hurt to check ...
