It seems to me that the above suggestion is system dependent. bsmtp is a general mail sending program and attempts to use only Unix and Windows well defined OS calls. As such I don't think the above suggestion is appropriate. The bsmtp program is provided as an optional mail sending program, so you are free to use any other program. Unless someone can show me a system independent way to change this, from the upstream perspective, we don't plan any changes.
