I just had a chance to test the upstream patch, and it fixes the bug... but not all the way. Directories with suffixes (Like the profile directory for "OpenOffice.org") get their suffixes stripped (to "OpenOffice"). 

I'll update this bug as I know more.
The defect is still within mangle_hash.c and only applies to the non-default dos-compatibility "hash" mangling method.
