To reproduce the bug: *** su - mcedit /root/.mc/ini Then, change the desired values: editor_visible_tabs=0 editor_visible_spaces=0 Press F2 to save. *** Now, as root (to use the MC profile we just have modifed), open MC by typing "mc" and navigate to "/root/.mc/ini". The values are reverted back again. There is a workaround I just have found: *** su - nano /root/.mc/ini Change the desired values and save the file. *** Now it works as expected. In brief, when editing the "ini" file using "mcedit", the values are reverted back to the originals. When editing the "ini" file with another editor (i.e., nano), the values are correctly keept. Not sure if that makes any sense, but at least is what I am seeing right now. Can you please confirm this behavior? I have not computer running testing/unstable so I cannot test a newer MC release at this momment. Anyway, if you cannot reproduce it in stable by any means, I can install a VM with testing to check the new version and see how it behaves.
