Actually, I'm not completely sure. Looking at [1] and the developer's reference suggests that it would not qualify - unless the requirements have changed for sarge - since it doesn't fix a bug that would be considered release critical. The risk of introducing breakage is pretty non-existant though, and I would like to get this updated myself. I might ask the stable release manager whether he would consider approving an upload fixing this.
