Package: pidgin Version: 2.4.3-4lenny5 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable
Start from around Dec 8, 2009. Pidgin 2.4.* can't connect to MSN messenger any more. The error is "Our protocol is not supported by the server." According to a bug report [1] from upstream project, This seems apply to all pidgin 2.4.* user world wide due to a little change in the protocol. Sadly that upstream doesn't want to support 2.4.* any more. Though I think it's not hard to fix this issue in 2.4.*. We may consider upgrading to pidgin 2.6 or fix 2.4.3 by ourselves.
