Oops, now I see -- you mean "-e trip" should be avoided
with a code like the above. AFAIU, you meant "silent
-e trip", didn't you?

Usually "-e trip" itself is recommended by Debian
policy (6.1, 10.4), that's why I was confused about
your sentence. And, also, english is not my native
language.
