bacula-sd is susceptible to entering deadlocks. This is a known bacula bug : http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1213 Marking as important since this causes loss of data that isn't backed up. Attached to that bug is a simple patch (not mine), backported from SVN, which fixes the issue. Thanks, Guillaume
