Package: nvidia-glx Version: 185.18.36-2 Severity: important
For a long time rotated screens with nvidia driver and xorg has renderd the use of window managers such as awesome less than useful. At work I pinned a couple of Xorg packages down to still be able to use my rotated screen, but computer at home have been used to upgrade upgrade upgrade in hope the error would go away. On a whim (and random hooray of one person on IRC) I opted to upgrade to the latest nvidia drivers (190.42) and the problem went away. The held packages: ih x11-common 1:7.3+18 1:7.4+4 ih xserver-xorg 1:7.3+18 1:7.4+4 ih xserver-xorg-core 2:1.4.2-10 2:1.6.5-1 ih xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.0.8-1 1:2.2.5-1 ih xserver-xorg-input-kbd 1:1.3.1-1 1:1.3.2-4 ih xserver-xorg-input-mouse 1:1.3.0-1 1:1.4.0-4 ih xserver-xorg-video-nv 1:2.1.10-1 1:2.1.14-2 if I manually install 190.42, the packages above can be upgraded without causing any display problems on rotated screens. See report #554240 for update to 190.42 request. -- Package-specific info: uname -r: Linux traktor.vbg.se.prnw.net 2.6.29-2-686 #1 SMP Sun May 17 17:56:29 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux /proc/version: Linux version 2.6.29-2-686 (Debian 2.6.29-5) ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.3.3 (Debian 4.3.3-10) ) #1 SMP Sun May 17 17:56:29 UTC 2009 /proc/driver/nvidia/version: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV44A [GeForce 6200] (rev a1) -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.29-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=sv_SE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages nvidia-glx depends on: ii libc6 2.9-26 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libx11-6 2:1.2.2-1 X11 client-side library ii libxext6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii nvidia-kernel-2.6.2 185.18.36-2+2.6.29-5 NVIDIA binary kernel module for Li ii x11-common 1:7.3+18 X Window System (X.Org) infrastruc nvidia-glx recommends no packages.
