I have noticed that the acpi-cpufreq module is no more auto-loaded. This leads to full CPU utilization at all times thus leading to more heat which then further leads to trip points and shuts off. Fix is to manually add acpi-cpufreq in /etc/modules. Was acpid loading the acpi-cpufreq module earlier ?
