Icedove doesn't seem to like running for extended periods (several
hours mninimum). I usually have it open all the time and my computer is
running 24 x 7 usually, which may be one reason why I notice this bug
but others don't. The bug has been around in v2.x for quite a while.
I'm just getting around to reporting it.
The symptom is that Icedove will have start having trouble locating the
smtp server or, if it does connect to it, will take a long time to send
an e-mail. Once this starts happening, it very quickly deteriorates
into not being able to send e-mail.
If I shut down Icedove and restart it, it's good for several more
hours.
NOTE: I have multiple active and obsolete e-mail accounts that Icedove
is managing. It checks 3 different servers to retrieve e-mail
(torfree.net, rogers.com, yahoo.ca) and 5 e-mail addresses. I send on
only one (rogers.com) smtp server. In addition there are anumber of
other e-mail accounts that I've stopped using that Icedove still has
folders for.
