I don't think that's a fair assessment; the submitter included an smb.conf showing the configuration, and also showed the error message from the logs, which isn't an error that should happen. The line from the source is returning this EINVAL from a sendto() call. I think it's pretty clearly a bug in the source if the socket state has gotten wedged in this manner. Of course, there is a lot of noise in the smb.conf, so it's better to try to reproduce this first with a stock smb.conf instead first.
