hmm - I don't have the Debian package update here, but my copy works. So what I think is needed to complete this is a build-depends on libidn. Right now, I have:
ii libidn11 1.15-1
GNU Libidn library, implementation of IETF I
ii libidn11-dev 1.15-1
Development files for GNU Libidn, an IDN lib
I see that libidn11 itself is standard, so adding the dependency wouldn't
require additional packages at runtime.
