please read further:

to ircnau.rrze.uni-erlangen.de { reply foobar }
Here is the correct hostname ircneu.rrze.uni-erlangen.de - so it's
not resolvable:
s...@office:~$ host ircnau.rrze.uni-erlangen.de
ircnau.rrze.uni-erlangen.de does not exist (Authoritative answer)
Even though the hostname is not resolvable, it generates the reply
as mentioned in the global section.
