Hi, thanks for your bug report and for your patch! I've checked the upstream trac and I've found that a bug report was already filled for this problem but the patch applied is a bit different; additionally another similar patch would fix another problem with search (see http://bugs.mutt.org/3314). I hope you don't mind if we apply both upstream patches rather than yours, it's just to be in sync with upstream so we can drop them as soon as a new release comes out.
