Package: bugs.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

I maintain an IRC bot in #debian-devel-changes which spams new and
closed bugs as well as other changes from other sources such as uploaded
packages.

It essentially works by being subscribed to debian-bugs-dist and
debian-bugs-closed and then parsing any messages that get delivered.
Some of this is sane (for example, reading "X-Debian-PR-Source"-like
headers), but some of it is not (eg. parsing pseudo-headers on submitted
bus).

This aside, it would be nice if the bot could present other information;
in particular:

 - addition or removal of tags,
 - cloned and re-assigned bugs, and (particularly)
 - changes in bug severity.

This would seem to preclude moving away from an email-based architecture
due to the volume of changes being described, but this could also reduce
latency as messages would not have to visit liszt first.

I was talking with Don at Debconf regarding providing a generic feed
available over HTTP with essentially "logs" of the control interface in
a computer-readable format. He asked me to write this mail so it doesn't
fall through the cracks. Thanks for your attention so far.

Regards,
