Still, console-data's config script *has* the call the "dpkg --print-installation-architecture" but the culprit here is dh-consoledata (from the console-common source package and used to build console-data). The call to "dpkg --print-installation-architecture" is still in console-common (in /usr/share/debhelper/dh-consoledata/common.pl). Therefore dh-consoledata inserts it in the generated .config file for console-data. So, what should be done: 1) change console-common's common.pl file and rebuild console-common 2) drop debian/attic in console-data to avoid later confusion 3) rebuilt console-data with the new console-common
