I may eventually sponsor it, but you should send a sponsorship request to -mentors first, and make some changes such as checking it against policy 3.8.2, making it lintian -IE --pedantic clean (if you disagree with any of the tags then say why and we'll discuss it), and probably moving the direct changes in .diff.gz to a saner patch management system such as quilt or dpatch.
