Oh crap, please ignore and close this bug. I really should take a cup of coffee before submitting bugs. Not only the problem wasn't what I said, but lastfmsubmitd works well with spaces (replaces them with '+' signs, which are recognized by the server as spaces just like %20's), and if you would apply my patch it wouldn't work.
