Package: eric Version: 4.3.4-1 Severity: important Eric has been failing to start with a segfault for a few days; I was waiting for bug 532772 to be closed. This morning I upgraded eric but the segfault continued.
Strace eric stopped with a segfault after failing to find "sip, sip.so, sipmodule.so, sip.py and sip.pyc" in /usr/share/eric/modules/KdeQt/. A symlink to an installed copy of sip.so did not help. Following an email discussion, I removed python-kde4 and its dev and doc packages. Eric now starts normally. It's good to have it back.
