Subject: hal not creating any input capabilities at all Package: hal Version: 0.5.12~git20090406.46dc48-2 Severity: important
hal does not create any input records on my system. As a result my (usb) mouse and (ps/2) keyboard have to be configured the old-fashioned way via xorg.conf (or will not be usable under X). Hal does detect _some_ information about the keyboard and mouse, it just does not create the necessary bits for X to use them. Here is an excerpt from lshal output for the two devices: udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pnp_PNP0303' info.linux.driver = 'i8042 kbd' (string) info.parent = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer' (string) info.product = 'IBM Enhanced (101/102-key, PS/2 mouse support)' (string) info.subsystem = 'pnp' (string) info.udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pnp_PNP0303' (string) linux.hotplug_type = 2 (0x2) (int) linux.subsystem = 'pnp' (string) linux.sysfs_path = '/sys/devices/pnp0/00:09' (string) pnp.description = 'IBM Enhanced (101/102-key, PS/2 mouse support)' (string) pnp.id = 'PNP0303' (string) udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_46d_c016_noserial' info.linux.driver = 'usb' (string) info.parent = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_1d6b_1_0000_00_13_1' (string) info.product = 'M-UV69a/HP M-UV96 Optical Wheel Mouse' (string) info.subsystem = 'usb_device' (string) info.udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_46d_c016_noserial' (string) info.vendor = 'Logitech, Inc.'
