Package: eclipse Version: 3.2.2-6.1 Severity: minor
The eclipse package and the eclipse-platform package impose zenity (Gnome environment) as a dependence. But eclipse uses Java and doesn't need zenity to work. Zenity is only used in scripts like /usr/bin/eclipse : [...] if [ -x /usr/bin/zenity ]; then DIALOG=/usr/bin/zenity DIALOGW="$DIALOG --warning" elif [ -x /usr/bin/kdialog ]; then DIALOG=/usr/bin/kdialog DIALOGW="$DIALOG --warningyesno" elif [ -x /usr/bin/xdialog ]; then DIALOG=/usr/bin/xdialog DIALOGW="$DIALOG --warning" else DIALOG=echo DIALOGW="$DIALOG" fi [...] As we can see in this exemple, it isn't the only choice to display dialog boxes. So if you don't use the Gnome environment, zenity forces you to install many gnome libraries. It's very unpleasant. Please, is it possible to give the choice to install kdialog or xdialog instead of zenity ?
