Later today I'll try to send some patch to work around font problemes with path-based svgs, but it won't help for files with (non-empty) text. >From my tests yesterday, the directory for fonts is currently ~/.unicode, no ~/.unicode/font. There should be .sfd, .afm and pfa or pfb files there, not only sfd. But I'm not sure it works even so. I found some info on sfd at the skencil pakage manual /usr/share/doc/skencil or so.
