Frank Mehnert sent the following warning to the vbox user list (http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.virtualbox.general/5952): please don't use VBoxManage modifyhd VDI_FILE --compact with VirtualBox 2.2.2. There is a typo which usually leads to crashes of VBoxSVC but in the worst case it can lead to .vdi corruption. See also the ticket referenced above. Patch is available here: http://www.virtualbox.org/changeset/19251 This may be worth an extra upload before the next maintenance release comes out.
