Gnome-applet have some updates since your bug report (http://bugs.debian.org/457054).
I can't reproduce this behavior with current Debian version of gnome-applets (2.22.3-3). Do you still reproduce this with gnome-applets in stable ? If so, i might be great to give more details (backtraces, etc..). If no response until one week, we consider this bug could be closed. -- Guillaume Delacour
