It forces the player to carefully think before each step. Otherwise it's just a game and not a mathematical miracle (I currently have a very funny mathematical puzzle which is very interesting: See e.g. http://www.skats.de/raetselecke/19592-zahlenraetsel, very funny, I would never like to miss such fun even in games).
