As part of fontconfig-bin, I'd say. The configuration should remain in
fontconfig, as moving it creates lots of headaches.

That would work, although it's quite a hassle. Keith, I can prepare such
a package if you want.

BTW, could you post bug reports to gconf2 and gnome-vfs2? They are
similar, but have specific issues I'd like to discuss.

Which problem exactly is NP-hard? Having circular dependencies is a
fact, not a problem.
