I’m not sure of exactly what these XKB rules mean, but if I guess right, one rule sets AltGr as the shortcut to switch keymaps, and the other exchanges both alt keys. BTW, what happens when you kill the gnome-power-manager process? Brightness should not change anymore, but does the bug still occur when you press the keys? Cheers, -- .''`.
