I think it would make most sense to do it this way: dpatch-get-origtargz will look for the original tarball in the directories listed in the environment variable DPGO_PATH and copy the first it finds to the target directory requested by the caller on the command line. dpatch-edit-patch will read the option conf_origtargz_path from ~/.dpatch.conf and the environment variable DPEP_ORIGTARGZ_PATH and export this as the contents of DPGO_PATH before calling dpatch-get-origtargz. A patch implementing this, including adaption of the dpep manpage, would be _greatly_ appreciated.
