I just extracted the versions from todays state of unstable and
experimental, thus my advise to use >=1.1.3. If you (upstream) say,
>=1.1.1 is fine, then I have nothing to object.

1.0.2~rc from unstable is definitively broken, causes segfaults like
hell (as you already know) and seems to be a heavy memory leaker, too.
