I believe this is a problem of oxygen cursors on Debian.
Forcibly removing the package oxygencursors solves the problem, but this breaks a kdebase package, called kdebase-workspace-data. It also solves the problem in the KDE 4 compiled from sources (which still has oxygen cursors installed from the sources), that's why I believe it's a Debian problem.
