I happened to stumble across #316343 and I see that someone else has
the same problem that has recently started happening to me. If I
start xtrlock from my window manager keybinding (my wm is vtwm),
xtrlock sometimes doesn't start. I have to bounce on the key.

This happens most often on fast computers. The machine I'm using now
doesn't do it at all.

I believe this to be because xtrlock is unable to grab the mouse. (I
have a very vague memory of seeing an error message along these
lines from xtrlock.) I have been intending to fix this for a while
but since atm I have a workaround - try a few times - I haven't made
it a priority.

I guess that the problem is caused by one or more of the following:
 - the key is still down when xtrlock starts and tries to
grab the keyboard (this is undoubtedly not a sufficient condition)
 - window manager launch keybindings grab the mouse or the keyboard
while the keybinding is held down
 - window managers don't always release the grab before launching
   the program

I'm not sure what the right fix is. Perhaps xtrlock should wait for
the grab to end (I would have to look up in the docs to see how that
might be done) or retry once after a short delay.

Ian.
