Package: proftpd-basic
Version: 1.3.2-1
Severity: normal

I transitioned from proftpd to proftpd-basic, and now the proftpd-basic
monthly cron job, as specified in /etc/cron.monthly/proftpd-basic, fails with
a nonzero exit status. There still exists a monthly cron job in
/etc/cron.monthly/proftpd (also part of the proftpd-basic package), which
completes successfully. The proftpd-basic job contains a subset of the
proftpd job, and it this line that is common to both, that fails:

ftpstats -a -r -l 2 -d -h -f \
/var/log/proftpd/xferlog 2>/dev/null >/var/log/proftpd/xferreport

It fails with a code of 255 in /etc/cron.monthly.proftpd-basic, and actually
does not really succeed in /etc/cron.monthly/proftpd, there are just some more
commands following that do succeed, so the whole job exits with a zero
status. If I execute the command without sending its error output to
/dev/null, I get a message "There was no data to process". That is not really
a problem, just a mildly interesting fact, so the job should still succeed in
that case.

I don't see why there are two separate cron jobs that do the same thing. That
seems like a separate but related problem.
