I didn't have time to look at this yet, but I've been experiencing the same problems here, I wasn't using the --pdiff switch, but using it doesn't seem to help
The only way I found to keep it mirroring was to remove the .temp/dists directory before starting debmirror. If you remove this directory and then use --pdiff=none it works ok. Also if you want the pdiffs you can remove the directory each time before starting debmirror, which can be run with whatever pdiff option you want.
