This is pretty weird. The only code change between libXi 1.1.4 and 1.2.0 is the addition of device properties, which aren't supported by the X server in sid, so these code paths should never get hit. More investigation from someone who can reproduce would be welcome... Changes in x11proto-input might also be relevant, but I don't see anything suspect there either, and since I'm not affected by the bug it's hard to figure out what's going wrong.
