Package: gpsd Version: 2.37-6~bpo40+1 Severity: normal
The debconf templates for gpsd don't contain default options to set the control socket path (hardcoded in /lib/udev/gpsd.hotplug to /lib/udev/gpsd.hotplug), thus causing gpsd not to start: Starting GPS (Global Positioning System) daemon: gpsdgpsd: can't run with neither control socket nor devices failed! Even if it would start, hotplugging (enabled via debconf!) wouldn't work. Please add "-F /lib/udev/gpsd.hotplug" as default daemon options. To the best of my knowledge, this bug is still present in the latest version of the gpsd package (i.e. the one in sid). -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (990, 'stable'), (400, 'testing'), (10, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-bpo.1-amd64 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages gpsd depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.11etch2 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13etch9 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libdbus-1-3 1.0.2-1+etch2 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libgps17 2.37-6~bpo40+1 C library for communicating with G ii lsb-base 3.1-23.2etch1 Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip ii netbase 4.29 Basic TCP/IP networking system ii python 2.4.4-2 An interactive high-level object-o Versions of packages gpsd recommends: ii gpsd-clients 2.37-6~bpo40+1 Clients for the GPS daemon -- debconf information: gpsd/start_daemon: false gpsd/device: gpsd/daemon_options: gpsd/autodetection: false -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
